First you take your kids to the children's section as usual. Then you watch as they each quickly spread into their own
preferred sections. They gather up their usual style of books and you begin to think to yourself that being a good mom would mean that you should help them diversify their interests. So you strongly suggest that along with their reading for pleasure selections, they take a look around the non-fiction area for books about subjects they just might be interested in learning about. First
Austin ,of course, looks at the ones he's already read, Genus Book of World Records, books on
Lego's and robotics,
etc, so as I am requiring of him that he leave the library with at least 1 "learning" book on a "new" subject and I'm telling him all the many subject there are too choose from, Ashley overhears "art" and "how to draw faces" so we're
looking up books on how to draw things, faces in particular, and we come across a book on face painting. So I'm thinking it will be those little designs that I usually paint on kids' cheeks at school carnivals and such. No, it's an all out theatrical full face painting book. And since they usually start reading the very second we get home she dove right into the face book first. And you certainly can not read a book about 'how to' do something and not
immediately put it to practise so out came my Halloween stash........

She decided that since we didn't have the right colors for the designs in the book, that she would design her own. Ashley did hers and Emily's, and Evan did his own.
