Men

Last night:

Dad: I'm leaving for a few days so it's you boys' job to help take care of mom."

Evan: "Ok Dad! I'll open the pickle jar!"

It's nice to know Dad is teaching these boys how to be men!

Random "House Photo" Tag

Tammie tagged me and since I also haven't been a regular poster lately I thought I would also participate. You've been tagged. Here is what you do: grab your camera and take at least 5 random pictures around your house. No cleaning up first, this is your house as is:Here is some catergories you could use: Room that stays the cleanest Work in progress What someone else is doing right now Favorite decor or display Something that represents your current life Favorite relaxing spot Something hand-me-down Etc. etc.

Since Tammie tagged me and she was brave enough to post a stack spot, so did I. Things are ALWAYS piled up here till they can find a permanent home.
Like Nancy, I also have a shoe by the door problem. But no one wants to carry them to their room every time so what do you do?

Here's the one room that always stays clean. Yes that is the vintage 1970's furniture I grew up with. I figure when my kids are old enough to stop destroying everything we own, we'll invest in new furniture.

The only other person in the house with me right now is Chase. As you can see, he's taking a nap. He like to have the blanket touching his face so you can't really see him but there he is!

And last but not least, our new fireplace. I wasn't going to post this till it was finished (we still have to tile) but this is my something new. We've been working on it since Thanksgiving. We are kind of slow, but anyone that's seen how long it's taken us to get our fence up knows that.....
I tag Heather and Mary!

Pioneer Valentines

Since 4Th graders learn Idaho History, Ashley's teacher has the kids do covered wagons for their valentines box. Last year Austin just covered a shoe box with brown and off white construction paper. This year Ashley got the idea to use a basket, so off to the dollar store I went! We then zip tied on canning lids for the wheels and used creme colored card stock for the canopy. She also cut up an egg carton, colored the pieces brown and attached "pouches". Pioneer Valentines, whooda thunkit?

New new new!

New tooth! Chase got his first tooth this weekend! The rest of the kids didn't get theirs until around their first birthday, yet Chase is only 8 months old. Though this isn't the first time he's been much different from the other 4 kids!

New moves! Chase is learning to crawl! I took a cute video, but I can't get it to load.

New Calling! Back to the Primary we go! Though this is the first time Justin and I will be team teaching. We'll be teaching the 8-9 yr olds this time. I did get released as RS chorister, but I'll help out every other week until they find someone else, since the Bishop said we can take turns sitting with them in sharing time. And I am still on the activities committee which I really enjoy. Feel free to comment on some of your favorite ward activites so I can help make sure they happen again! Or anything new you'd like to see.

Hello, Goodbye, and Valentine Hair

Hello to my sister. She and her family just moved back here from Boise. When she lived in Chubbuck, and us in Shelley, we'd get together at least monthly. But I think I've only seen her twice since she moved to Boise. We're happy to have her here. It's going to be fun!
Goodbye to Sara. Those who don't know her, may remember her from the Super Trouper video. She's the one on the far right in the picture below. This was her going away karaoke party last Sat night. The exact same time that my sister was moving in just a few miles away. Her husband got a job in Texas. Not many people I know would memorize a song they've never heard before, learn choreography to it, sew an entire costume from scratch and perform that song with just 2 and 1/2 days notice! Boy am I going to miss her!

On an entirely different note I learned something new this week. I've always been pretty hair impaired. My entire life I've had wash and go styles. And my two daughters have had 2 minutes half ponytails hairdo's for years. Ashley's been fixing her own hair very darling for the past year or so. Much better that I ever did. But I've been checking out the girly do's blog linked off of Joy's blog and finally got inspired. Now this isn't going to happen everyday, so I thought I'd better document my success:
Valentine heart hair:
She was pretty excited and is now asking me to do several styles that she can't do herself. We'll see.

Warm Snow?

I know the sun is shining out there today, but seriously I don't get it. It's February 4th in Idaho. That spells COLD. I am a native Idahoan, but my blood lines must be from down South or something. First I pick up my kids walking home from the bus stop, daughter has no coat on. OK, kids have alot of energy and she was probably running around and got hot.

But then I drop Austin and Ashley off at piano lessons and across the street I see two middle aged men sitting out in lawn chairs in t-shirts and shorts!

There is still SIX INCHES OF SNOW on the ground folks!

Is it just me that still freezes until Spring finally hits in late June?

Now today I have to laugh again at an e-mail I got twice this week:

COLD IS A RELATIVE THING:

65 above zero F:
Arizonans turn on the heat.
People in Idaho plant gardens.

60 above zero F:
Californians shiver uncontrollably.
People in Idaho sunbathe.

50 above zero F:
Italian & English cars won't start.
People in Idaho drive with the windows down.

40 above zero F:
Georgians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats.
People in Idaho throw on a flannel shirt ... unbuttoned

35 above zero F:
New York landlords finally turn up the heat.
People in Idaho have the last cookout before it gets cold.

20 above zero F:
People in Miami all die.
Idahoans close the windows. They put the coolers away and use the snow banks.

Zero F:
Californians fly away to Mexico .
People in Idaho get out their winter coats.

10 below zero F:
Hollywood disintegrates.
The Girl Scouts in Idaho are selling cookies door to door..

20 below zero F:
Washington DC runs out of hot air.
People in Idaho let the dogs sleep indoors.

30 below zero F:
Santa Claus abandons the North Pole.
Idahoans get upset because they can't start the snowmobile.

40 below zero F:
ALL atomic motion stops.
Idaho public schools will open 2 hours late

50 below zero F:
The fiery place of torture freezes over.

People in Idaho start saying...'Cold enough for ya?'

If you've read this far, I hope you've been enjoying my "sunny" songs compilation!

Digiscrap

I finally got around to doing another digiscrap page. I've learned alot in the past couple weeks! So now I can finally start doing Chase's baby book, though I still haven't finished Emily's and she's five.....
Digital is just so much faster once you learn how, and now I don't have to drag out all my supplies which is why I'm so behind on my others!

Please tell me what you think!
